JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Attorney General James Uthmeier<\/a> announced a criminal subpoena targeting Jacksonville’s Deegan administration over allegations of obstructing federal immigration efforts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Uthmeier<\/a> made the announcement via X, stating that there is evidence that Mayor Donna Deegan’s<\/a> administration coordinated to impede immigration enforcement.<\/p>\n

During a news conference<\/a> on Monday morning, Uthmeier stated that a city official was publicly sharing information about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) locations, which he claims interferes with immigration enforcement operations. <\/p>\n

“We stand by the rule of law here in Florida,” Uthmeier stated. “Local officials have an obligation to assist federal law enforcement, not hinder it.”<\/p>\n

Uthmeier pointed out that Florida laws require local officials to facilitate federal immigration efforts, and he expressed disagreement with the Jacksonville mayor’s assertion that no wrongdoing occurred.<\/p>\n

Attorney General James Uthemeier announced on Monday morning that he is issuing a criminal subpoena to the Jacksonville Mayor’s administration, alleging that they coordinated to impede immigration enforcement. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He indicated that if evidence shows there was a coordinated effort among city officials or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to obstruct enforcement, they would take appropriate action, potentially including racketeering charges.<\/p>\n

The Attorney General reminded citizens that Florida also has anti-doxing laws in place, which make it illegal to disclose personal information about law enforcement officers in order to harass or threaten them. <\/p>\n

“We will not allow this kind of behavior,” Uthmeier declared. “Our goal is to maintain order and cooperation between state and federal law enforcement.”<\/p>\n
