Tickets are open for the next two season events hosted by the Captiva Civic Association (CCA).<\/p>\n

Into the Heart with Cacao: A Woman\u2019s Cacao Ceremony and Sound Bath will take place on Feb. 12 at the Captiva Civic Center on the island, while Perfectly Paired: Natural Expressions is set for Feb. 16.<\/p>\n

INTO THE HEART WITH CACAO<\/p>\n

Taking place from 6 to 8 p.m., Into the Heart with Cacao: A Woman\u2019s Cacao Ceremony and Sound Bath will be presented by Mal\u00fa Doherty and Cindy Petrakis-Mason and is designed for adults.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat our mission is, what our passion is, is creating a space for women to gather,\u201d Doherty said, explaining that their programs focus on self discovery and embracing uniqueness for attendees.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we want to bring to the community is an opportunity to gather in a space, especially now when things are really hectic and crazy in the world,\u201d Petrakis-Mason added. \u201cFor women to find a safe space to land \u2014 to connect with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rooted in tradition, cacao ceremonies were practiced within ancient cultures for generations.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an indigenous cultured ceremony,\u201d Doherty said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cacao ceremony is about using medicine of the natural plant to help us open our hearts and connect with what\u2019s important, what we want with one another,\u201d Petrakis-Mason added.<\/p>\n

The theme for this ceremony will be self compassion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be an opportunity to set an intention for the evening for themselves,\u201d Petrakis-Mason said.<\/p>\n

Doherty explained that attendees will stir their intentions into the ceremonial cacao, which is prepared in advance. They will then come up in pairs of two to receive the cacao in a cup brought from home.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we\u2019re doing that, we\u2019re all chanting a very sweet song of gratitude, of invoking the spirit of cacao and all of its healing benefits, all of its heart opening benefits,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

They will guide attendees through the practice of sipping the ceremonial cacao.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have mediations, in a mindful way,\u201d Petrakis-Mason said.<\/p>\n

Next, attendees will take part in a variety of experiences. They will be paired up with a partner for a sharing experience, participate in circle sharing with the group and take part in a movement piece.<\/p>\n

There will be alchemy crystal bowl sound healing in a reclined, comfortable position on the floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo completely rest and receive all the benefits of the cacao ceremony, all the benefits of being seen and heard and witnessed,\u201d Doherty said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity to kind of integrate everything that has happened,\u201d Petrakis-Mason added.<\/p>\n

In addition, there will be journaling and universal dances of peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be a couple of takeaways for them, a couple of tools,\u201d Doherty said. \u201cFor maintaining an open heart and connecting back to the heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attendees should wear comfortable, loose-fitting layered clothes.<\/p>\n

They will need a mug \u2014 with special meaning or not \u2014 journal and something to write with.<\/p>\n

No prior experience is required to participate.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll are welcome,\u201d Petrakis-Mason said. \u201cNo experience needed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tickets are $65.<\/p>\n

Women are encouraged to reserve their spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ll receive the benefit of being in a community with other women \u2014 the beauty and the support,\u201d Doherty said. \u201cThey\u2019ll also leave just feeling so much better, lighter, happier, freer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe feeling of really being connected with yourself, with others \u2014 feeling welcomed, feeling supported,\u201d Petrakis-Mason added. \u201cAnd having some tools to take with you after this experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

PERFECTLY PAIRED<\/p>\n

Part of the CCA\u2019s Perfectly Paired Wine Tasting Series, \u201cNatural Expressions\u201d will be held from from 5 to 7 p.m. with host and A Bit of Bailey\u2019s and The Island Store wine steward Calli Johnson duPont.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years, we\u2019ve been very supportive of bringing the wine tasting events to the community,\u201d Director Lauren McCraney said. \u201cIt\u2019s giving an opportunity to bring the community together for camaraderie and laughter.\u201d<\/p>\n

This tasting\u2019s theme will immerse attendees in authenticity with wines that embrace character and individuality. It will highlight the growing demand for expressive, engaging and unforgettable wines.<\/p>\n

DuPont will present selections with bold textures and honest craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those who maybe have a preferred taste of white or red, they\u2019ll have options to chose from,\u201d she said, adding that duPont averages about six pours. \u201cThere\u2019ll be a multitude of choices to sample.\u201d<\/p>\n

Culinary pairings will be prepared by Chef Karl Hamme.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe season has been off to a great start,\u201d McCraney said. \u201cKarl has been outdoing himself with his curated pairings to compliment Calli\u2019s tastings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attendees will have the chance to order the featured bottles for future pick up at the stores.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $60 for members and $70 for non-members.<\/p>\n
