PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 St. Pete&#8217;s Winter Pride celebration is set to return for a second year, featuring highlights like drag race, street festivals and an 80s ski lodge bash.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say the overall event, which is from Feb. 15-22, aims to increase visibility, inspire others, promote equality and diversity, as well as build awareness and acceptance for all.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the city&#8217;s skyline will be illuminated by a large-scale rainbow laser display from Feb. 19-21. The display, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtsp.com\/article\/news\/local\/pinellascounty\/st-pete-rainbow-lasers-winter-pride-celebration\/67-ba7b48a2-360f-4e0d-be68-c691f7af8b8b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">&#8220;Global Rainbow: We Rise in Light,&#8221;\u00a0<\/a>will be projected from atop the Mari Jean Hotel on Central Avenue and will be visible from 60 miles away.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Pride said in a statement that last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtsp.com\/article\/news\/local\/pinellascounty\/murals-street-art-remove-removal-st-pete-florida-protest\/67-a4e213fa-e4ab-4c2b-b635-02237e1a8606\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">removal of the iconic rainbow crosswalk on Central Avenue<\/a> in St. Pete resonated deeply with the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about more than one crosswalk,\u201d said Rob Hall, executive director of Winter Pride Saint Pete. \u201cIt\u2019s about the growing voices in Tallahassee and Washington that are actively trying to erase LGBTQIA+ people from public life. This is our response.
