<\/p>\nA rapper known for a viral dance song was taken into custody early Tuesday after he was barricaded for hours inside a home in Plantation, according to a livestream he posted and police information.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the standoff brought SWAT to the area of the 8600 block of Gatehouse Road, just off of Pine Island Road, before 10 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n
Hank VanBaalen, who identified himself as the president of the homeowner’s association, said the situation started on Sunday. <\/p>\n
“There’s a rapper that was renting this house, and apparently he was having some kind of an episode,” he said. “They had the cops here, and then I got a call from one of my neighbors that they were back here [Monday] during the day.”<\/p>\n

He said the rapper in question is iHeartMemphis, best known for his 2015 hit “Hit the Quan,” and that at least part of the standoff was caught on a livestream. NBC6 has obtained video of that stream, which shows the rapper, whose real name is Richard Maurice Colbert, talking to the camera and eventually, law enforcement. <\/p>\n
“People [on the livestream] were saying, ‘just turn yourself in, man, you know, I pray for you,’ this and that,” he said. “So I don’t know what was going on, but whatever it was, it wasn’t like him because he’s obviously lived here almost a year.”<\/p>\n

At around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Plantation Police said the subject was safely taken into custody for an active warrant for written or electronic threats to kill. Jail records show he was also booked on a charge of resisting an officer without violence. <\/p>\n
“The subject will be evaluated at an area hospital as a precaution. No injuries occurred as a result of this incident,” police said. <\/p>\n
A dog was also removed from the home and released to a family member, authorities said. <\/p>\n
