ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 The race is on in Orlando as a massive makeover at Camping World Stadium moves full speed ahead, with hopes it could help land the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>, at least temporarily, for the 2027 season. <\/p>\n

Construction officially kicked off on Wednesday, and significant work is already underway as crews clear rubble and prepare the site for major upgrades.<\/p>\n

Steve Hogan, CEO of Florida Citrus Sports, says the venue is well-positioned to host the team if needed. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re talking about somebody who needs a place to play for a year. Our community is set up for that, and this new building will be ideal. We just have to meet the construction schedule, and we will,\u201d Hogan said. <\/p>\n

Despite the $400 million renovations beginning this week, Hogan emphasized there is still no official confirmation that the Jaguars will relocate to Orlando in 2027. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of the relationship between Orlando and the Jags, we all are comfortable with what we provided. The NFL committee has to officially bless that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Jaguars need a temporary home because EverBank Stadium\u2019s $1.4 billion renovation<\/a> could force the team out for the 2027 season. <\/p>\n

Renovations at Camping World Stadium include adding more seats to reach a 65,000 capacity, constructing a new community event center, and installing a retractable stage for concerts.<\/p>\n

City leaders are also looking beyond the stadium, voting to expand the Community Redevelopment Agency district to help fund road, sidewalk, and infrastructure upgrades around the venue. <\/p>\n

When asked for his message to residents in the Parramore area, Mayor Buddy Dyer said, \u201cTo be excited as we continue to invest in our venue to bring world-class events to the City of Orlando.\u201d <\/p>\n

Nearby residents say they are concerned about traffic, though some also see opportunities to benefit from game-day parking. <\/p>\n

Officials note the timeline is tight, with construction needing to be completed by the summer of 2027, just ahead of the NFL season.<\/p>\n

There is a job fair for the construction project on Thursday at Camping World Stadium at 6 p.m. <\/p>\n
