TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A new candidate has filed for election in Florida\u2019s 2nd Congressional District.<\/p>\n
Republican Audie Rowell announced his candidacy last week. In the primary, he will face Florida GOP chairman Evan Power<\/a>, Nick Lewis<\/a>, Keith Gross and Austin Rogers<\/a>.<\/p>\n The congressional seat is currently held by Republican Neal Dunn, but the Congressman announced that he is withdrawing his re-election bid.<\/a> Dunn said he is passing the torch to spend more time with his family.<\/a><\/p>\n In an announcement on Facebook, Rowell said his goal is to make sure \u201cthe American citizens of the 2nd congressional district receive the representation they deserve.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI will strongly focus on the values our country was founded upon, that being our Christian\/family families, constitutional values, capitalistic values and our constitutional republic values,\u201d the post continued. <\/p>\n Rowell is a sixth generation Floridian and has roots in Taylor County. <\/p>\n He was raised in Tallahassee and served in law enforcement in Leon County.
