JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 It is time to unpack the moving boxes at the Duval County Public Schools headquarters on the Southbank.<\/p>\n
The district announced on Thursday that plans to relocate its administrative headquarters will be “adjusted” after prospective buyer\/developer Chase Properties terminated its agreement.<\/p>\n
The initial agreement, approved by the School Board<\/a> for $17.2 million in a 4-3 vote, would have converted the current location at 1701 Prudential Drive into\u00a0mixed-use residential and commercial space<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve just been really engaged on the Southbank,” Chase Properties CEO Michael Balanky told First Coast News in 2025. “It\u2019s kind of a dream come true. I’ve always felt like that was one of the last best pieces of property.\u201d<\/p>\n DCPS also announced that the district has “exercised its option to terminate” an approximately $13.65 million agreement with Dream Finders Home regarding a new headquarters location in the Baymeadows area.<\/p>\n “These actions are consistent with the School Board\u2019s direction to avoid owning two properties simultaneously and to minimize unnecessary financial or operational overlap during any transition period,” officials say.<\/p>\n
