The spectacular, decadent\u00a0world of Moulin Rouge! is heading to Miami, bringing one of Broadway\u2019s most lavish modern musicals to the Adrienne Arsht Center for a limited spring run. The touring production will play the Ziff Ballet Opera House from March 17 through March 22 as part of the Broadway in Miami season. If you like your theater big, bold and dripping in sex and\u00a0powerhouse vocals, this is as maximalist as it gets.<\/p>\n

Adapted from Baz Luhrmann\u2019s beloved 2001 film by John Logan and originally directed by Alex Timbers, Moulin Rouge! The Musical transforms the\u00a0theater into a\u00a0Parisian nightclub\u00a0fueled by pop music mashups, high-voltage\u00a0dance and pure visual overload. The Miami stop marks the city\u2019s official premiere of the musical, which first opened on Broadway in 2019 and won 10 Tony Awards. And\u00a0audiences also get a hometown connection: The touring cast includes South Florida\u2013raised performer Danny Burgos, who appears as Santiago.<\/p>\n

As Adam Feldman wrote in his 2019 review of the Broadway premiere<\/a>, “It\u2019s a very fancy heart-shaped box of Valentine\u2019s Day chocolates, and though you know exactly what you\u2019re going to get, each bite is still a little surprise: sometimes gooey, sometimes nutty, sometimes fruity, sometimes sweet, sometimes stale but mostly delicious. And if it\u2019s any consolation to the haters,\u00a0Moulin Rouge!\u00a0may turn out to be the jukebox musical to end all jukebox musicals\u2014if only because, among its particular type of jukebox musical at least, it\u2019s hard to imagine how it can be topped.”<\/p>\n

The show arrives as part of a milestone Broadway in Miami season celebrating two decades of touring productions at the Arsht Center. After Moulin Rouge packs up its stockings and top hats, audiences can enjoy productions of The Notebook and The Book of Mormon to close out the 2025-2026 season.<\/p>\n

Ticket prices vary widely depending on seat location, but expect a range that makes the show accessible for both casual theatergoers and full-on Broadway superfans. Performances for the week are at 8pm Tuesday through Saturday, 2pm on Saturday and 1pm and 7pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n
