CAPE CORAL, Fla.\u2014A political feud led to projectile food at Four Mile Ecological Preserve in Cape Coral after a man was arrested for launching a cupcake at a city employee.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on January 15, when a City of Cape Coral employee reported a man had thrown a cupcake at him after a verbal dispute about politics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The alleged thrower, David Sternal, 59, was found at a nearby gazebo, with frosting on his person, claiming the city employee threw the cupcake at him.<\/p>\n

Cape Coral police responded to the incident and conducted an interview with Sternal. According to police, his speech and behavior were disorganized, prompting a Baker Act investigation.<\/p>\n

Sternal confirmed with law enforcement that he was aware of his surroundings and did not have any intent to harm himself or others.<\/p>\n

The city employee chose not to press charges against Sternal; however, at the request of a Parks and Recreation supervisor, he was formally trespassed from the preserve before leaving the area without further incident.<\/p>\n

Sternal was taken into custody, where he faces the following charges: criminal mischief for damage to property over $1,000 and a weapon offense for a missile into a dwelling.<\/p>\n
