The Science Of It – The Orlando Science Center Welcomes New Ambassadors February 12th 2026<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tALL RIGHT. WE\u2019RE JUST GOING TO KEEP TALKING ABOUT THE ORLANDO SCIENCE CENTER, WHERE SO MANY EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING. BUT DON\u2019T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT. TAKE IT FROM SOME GUINEA PIGS. THEY ARE CUTE, RIGHT? WELL, THIS WEEK\u2019S EPISODE OF THE SCIENCE OF IT, WESH 2\u2019S MARQUISE MEDA, INTRODUCES US TO THE CENTER\u2019S TWO NEWEST ANIMAL AMBASSADORS. WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING YOU GUYS? AND WELCOME BACK TO THE ORLANDO SCIENCE CENTER. I\u2019M JOINED BY ANNA ONCE AGAIN. AND ANNA. WE HAVE TWO REALLY SPECIAL GUESTS WITH US, RIGHT? WE DO. THESE ARE OUR NEW FRIENDS, BEAN AND BREWSTER. THESE ARE SOME OF OUR NEWEST MEMBERS OF THE ANIMAL AMBASSADOR TEAM HERE IN THE LIFE EXHIBIT. SO YOU MAY SEE THESE ANIMALS WHEN YOU COME TO VISIT THE SCIENCE CENTER FOR OUR 11:00 PROGRAM. THESE ARE GUINEA PIGS. THIS IS A COMMON HOUSEHOLD PET, AND THEY ARE MEMBERS OF THE RODENT FAMILY. AND THEIR CLOSEST LIVING RELATIVES ARE AN ANIMAL THAT\u2019S PRETTY POPULAR RIGHT NOW THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD OF CALLED THE CAPYBARA. TO GET, BUT THEY ARE CLOSE COUSINS. WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES AGAIN? SO THE ONE WITH THE WHITE AND THE SWIRLY FUR IS BREWSTER, AND THE BROWN ONE IS BEAN. SO THIS IS A DOMESTIC GUINEA PIG. THIS IS A SPECIES THAT\u2019S BEEN KEPT BY PEOPLE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. SO THEY\u2019RE PRETTY DIFFERENT THAN THEIR WILD COUNTERPARTS NOW. AND THESE ARE ACTUALLY BOTH RESCUES. SO WE\u2019RE VERY HAPPY TO HAVE THEM HERE. THEY\u2019RE WONDERFUL ADDITIONS TO OUR ANIMAL AMBASSADOR TEAM. AND DID YOU KNOW GUINEA PIGS HAVE BEEN ASTRONAUTS. REALLY. THAT\u2019S YEAH. THAT\u2019S AWESOME. SPEAKING OF SPACE, WE HAVE SOME REALLY COOL EVENTS HAPPENING AT THE ORLANDO SCIENCE CENTER THIS MONTH. YEAH, WE\u2019RE COMING UP ON OUR SPARK STEM FEST. SO IT\u2019S GOING TO BE FEBRUARY 14TH THROUGH 16TH. WE\u2019VE GOT LOTS OF VERY COOL STEM PROGRAMING. AND OUR MOST EXCITING THING IS THAT ASTRONAUT NICOLE STOTT IS COMING TO TALK TO US. SO WE\u2019RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE HER. AND MAYBE SHE CAN TELL THE GUINEA PIGS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT IT\u2019S LIKE TO BE IN SPACE. WELL, I GOTTA LEARN A LITTLE BIT MYSELF TOO, AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU GUYS ALL HERE AT THE SCIENCE CENTER RATHER SOON.
