TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A new exhibit opened at the John G. Riley Museum in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfrican Americans in Tallahassee: The World Wars and Post-War Life\u201d is the third of four installations on African American history in the capital city.<\/p>\n
Curator Ileana Olmos said for this exhibit, they wanted to feature a demographic not often associated with wars in American history.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou think soldiers, you think men, but many, very few people think about women, specifically African-American women, and we have women that not only participated with war efforts, but also in the home front, and we wanted to showcase that part,\u201d Olmos said.<\/p>\n
The exhibit will run for 10 months and entry is free.<\/p>\n
The museum is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n
