JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Violence on a school bus caused a major scene in the Grand Park area on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The bus was headed to Matthew Gilbert Middle School when one student stabbed another student.<\/p>\n
The injured student was taken to the hospital. Authorities are working to learn the condition of the child at this time.<\/p>\n
Duval County Schools told News4JAX that a female student suspect is in custody.<\/p>\n
Now, students are sharing their reactions to the incident. The team at Duval County Schools ensured that the kids they spoke with called their parents and gave permission to share their reactions, which ranged from concerned to surprised.<\/p>\n
Andre Alston and Makhai Noble are 8th graders at Matthew Gilbert Middle School.<\/p>\n
Alston said, \u201cWhenever I heard it, I was like, oh my God, and everybody was talking about it all day. It just shocked me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was just more worried about my cousin, because my cousin rides the bus,\u201d Noble said.<\/p>\n
Noble shared that his cousin told him he was traumatized by the incident.<\/p>\n
Makhai added, \u201cYeah. It is a lot of fights that happen at the school, just school itself need to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t just students who shared concerns; a mother also spoke about her worries regarding the incident. <\/p>\n
A mom named Charisse, who says her son used to take the bus when he first started going to Matthew Gilbert Middle School; however, now she sends him to school in an Uber and picks him up in the afternoons.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was always something,\u201d Charisse said. \u201cIt was always some type of altercation, so I stopped him from just catching the bus period and Uber him to school.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the monthly bill for those Ubers can reach $280, but she does it for her child\u2019s safety. <\/p>\n
