To many, the UCF shuttle buses are transportation. To Magaly Ferreira and Rob\u00e9rio Fonseca, it\u2019s an extension of their relationship as husband and wife.<\/p>\n
Fonseca drives a shuttle on Route 8, while Ferreira drives on Route 5. They met at their church almost 15 years ago while working on a Christmas play. Six months later, they were married.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just woke up one day, and I said, \u2018I want to marry you,\u2019\u201d Fonseca said. \u201cShe got excited, like, \u2018Wow, let\u2019s plan this!\u2019 and I was like, \u2018No, no, no, I want to marry you today, at the court, now.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
After they got married,\u00a0they started a successful business that focused on\u00a0gluten-free tapioca flour. The two continued running the business together for a decade until the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut around COVID, the time changed for everything, for everybody. We decided to close the business,\u201d Ferreira said. \u201cWe were very tired, and he went back to the bus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fonseca had worked as a bus driver before the couple started their business. After it closed, Ferreira took an office job that often left her exhausted each night. Eventually, Fonseca grew tired of seeing her so stressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe didn\u2019t have a CDL, and I said, \u2018Go take the class, get your driver\u2019s license and come to work with me. This is the place we have to be,\u2019\u201d Fonseca said. \u201cWe\u2019re together. We have the same schedule, use the same vacation, everything is the same. It\u2019s easier to manage.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two arrive at work together\u00a0on weekday mornings, stopping at the same stop and waving to each other each time their buses cross paths.<\/p>\n
