Florida State<\/a>\u2018s baseball game against James Madison on Sunday has been delayed due to inclement weather in the area, the program announced<\/a> on social media. The program will provide additional updates as they are made available.<\/p>\n

First pitch was set for 11 a.m. ET. Before the weekend, first pitch for Sunday\u2019s series finale was set for 1 p.m. ET. However, expected weather in the area forced FSU to move the game up. Despite the precaution, the weather came earlier than anticipated.<\/p>\n

Coming into the matchup , Florida State was looking to pull off the season-opening sweep after winning the first two matchups against the Dukes. The Seminoles opened the season with a 5-1 win on Friday before Saturday\u2019s 16-5 series-clinching victory.<\/p>\n

FSU will host Jacksonville in their next matchup on Tuesday. After that will be the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series that features matchups against Michigan, Auburn and Nebraska, among others.<\/p>\n

The Seminoles opened the season ranked No. 16 in D1baseball\u2019s preseason rankings. This comes after Florida State finished last season ranked 10th in the final poll with a 42-16 record. However, their season ended just short of the College World Series in the Super Regional. <\/p>\n

In 2024, the Seminoles made it all the way to the World Series \u2014 their 24th trip to Omaha in program history. Despite this, FSU has never won it all but have finished as runner-ups on three occasions. <\/p>\n

This season, FSU is without five of its top seven hitters from 2025 and have revamped their pitching rotation in the offseason. Head coach Link Jarrett said during the preseason that he was encouraged by what he\u2019s seen from his squad over the past several weeks leading up the opening weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like where we are,\u201d Jarrett said, via Warchant<\/a>. \u201cYou get to a roadblock in the process where you have to play some other teams, and that is here. We need that. The inner-squads and the practice and the reps and the work and the bullpens and the scrimmage and the cage \u2026 you have to try to apply these things in-game. And I feel good. I have some concerns overall about the club, but we need to address that in the heat of the moment out here, and we need to play.<\/p>\n
