A longtime Jacksonville police officer<\/a> has been reassigned after his arrest following an altercation at a Clay County bar.<\/p>\n

John H. Tiedeman, a 27-year Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office veteran, was arrested on a felony charge of Battery on a Person 65 Years of Age or Older following a Valentine’s Day incident, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Feb. 14 news release.<\/p>\n

He is the fourth JSO employee arrested this year.<\/p>\n

Until his arrest, Tiedeman, 49, was a patrol officer most recently assigned in District 2, which includes Arlington and neighboring areas, the Sheriff’s Office said.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff’s Office said as a result of his arrest, Tiedeman has been administratively reassigned to the Tele-Serv Unit pending the criminal investigation.<\/p>\n

Tiedeman was taken into custody early Feb. 14 after Clay County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault at a business, the Sheriff’s Office said.<\/p>\n

The arriving Clay deputies met the victim on the front patio of a bar. The victim told the deputies that he was attempting to de-escalate a verbal altercation when he was battered by the suspect \u2014 subsequently identified as Tiedeman.<\/p>\n

Tiedeman was located and detained during a traffic stop, then transported to Clay County Jail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
