{"id":157286,"date":"2026-02-16T16:30:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T16:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/157286\/"},"modified":"2026-02-16T16:30:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T16:30:07","slug":"7-8-million-cargo-theft-ring-busted-in-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/157286\/","title":{"rendered":"$7.8 million cargo theft ring busted in Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trucking news and briefs for Monday, Feb. 16, 2026:<\/p>\n<p>Retail merch, electronics, copper wire among cargo theft ring\u2019s alleged $7.8 million in stolen goods.Parts distributor expands in Canada.Florida cargo theft ring faces up to 300 years in prison<\/p>\n<p>The state of Florida has filed charges against a group of cargo thieves for their alleged involvement in at least 32 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/regulations\/article\/15815827\/congress-moves-towards-a-federal-cargo-theft-law-enforcment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cargo theft<\/a> incidents and a vessel theft in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier\u2019s office announced charges against Alayn Espinosa Lopez, Yerrison Perez, Yasser Mederos Garcia, Alexis Suarez Hernandez, Alejandro Valdes, and Arley Osmany Hernandez Relova for Grand Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft. The group is responsible for thefts resulting in an estimated loss of nearly $7.8 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis organized criminal operation targeted Florida\u2019s supply chain and caused nearly $7.8 million in losses across our state,\u201d\u00a0said Uthmeier.\u00a0\u201cThanks to the coordination between the Florida Highway Patrol, the Orlando Police Department, and our Office of Statewide Prosecution, this group was identified and dismantled.
