FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 A 20-year-old man was arrested Sunday, months after he attacked his own friends outside a bar in Fort Lauderdale, causing permanent damage to one of the victim\u2019s ankles, authorities said.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest report from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the incident occurred Aug. 23, 2025.<\/p>\n
Police said the victim claimed that he has been friends with Svante Strandberg, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, for several years and on Aug. 23, they went to Dicey Riley\u2019s Irish Pub with several friends.<\/p>\n
But Strandberg got kicked out of the bar after pushing someone\u2019s wife, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Police said one of the victims followed Strandberg outside in an attempt to calm him down, but Strandberg began punching him in the face.<\/p>\n
According to the report, the victim stepped in a small ditch as he struggled with Strandberg and broke his ankle.<\/p>\n
Another friend then tried to stop Strandberg, but that victim ended up getting \u201cput on his back,\u201d by Strandberg before Strandberg began \u201cthrowing punches at him,\u201d authorities said.<\/p>\n
Police said one friend sustained a bloody nose while the other was hospitalized with a broken ankle that needed 10 metal screws inserted, as well as two metal anchor screws, causing permanent damage to the victim\u2019s leg.<\/p>\n
According to the report, the victim who suffered the broken ankle didn\u2019t file a police report until Oct. 27 because he believed a police report had already been filed the night of the incident by the officer who responded to the scene. He told police he wanted to press charges against Strandberg. <\/p>\n
Strandberg faces charges of felony battery causing great bodily harm and misdemeanor battery.<\/p>\n
As of Monday afternoon, he was being held at the Broward County Main Jail on a $12,500 bond.<\/p>\n
