Corey Sipkin for the NY POST<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will never be a captain,\u201d Cohen said.<\/p>\n<p>He added the decision is based on how he would like to see the clubhouse run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year a team is different,\u201d Cohen said. \u201cAnd let the team figure it out in the locker room rather than have a designation. Having a captain in baseball doesn\u2019t happen often \u2014 it\u2019s actually unusual. Whatever previous ownership did, that was their way of doing things. Nimmo and Alonso departed the organization after last season, which appeared to clear the way for Lindor to potentially land the title.<\/p>\n<p>David Wright, who played his final game for the Mets in 2018, was the team\u2019s last captain. Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter and John Franco have also worn the title for the Mets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PORT ST.
