Take note: Gas prices in Florida are on the rise again.<\/p>\n
But so far in 2026, there have been lots of ups and downs.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrice cycling is still driving these ups and downs at the pump,\u201d said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA \u2013 The Auto Club Group. \u201cPrices drop, spike, then drift lower again, but overall, they remain below year\u2011ago levels.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miami-area prices are more than 5 cents a gallon higher than a month ago but 11 cents lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy, a national fuel monitoring service that surveys nearly 1,700 stations in South Florida.<\/p>\n
Despite the upward trend, the average gas price across the state has stayed mostly under $3 a gallon in 2026. North Florida remains the cheapest to pump in Florida. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas, according to AAA.<\/p>\n

What the experts are saying<\/p>\n
\u25aa Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy:\u201cThe national average price of gasoline continues to grind higher, and while the pace of increases remains modest for now, upward momentum could accelerate in the coming weeks as refinery maintenance intensifies and the broader transition to summer gasoline begins. However, supply-side dynamics could temper that seasonal pressure. If OPEC+ proceeds with resuming production increases following its first-quarter pause, additional barrels could cap crude oil\u2019s upside and limit the magnitude of the spring rally at the pump. That said, geopolitical tensions \u2014 particularly between the U.S. and Iran \u2014 remain an unpredictable variable, injecting risk into the outlook and leaving prices vulnerable to sudden shifts.\u201d<\/p>\n
