TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The race for Florida\u2019s 2nd Congressional District is getting crowded as ten candidates have filed for election. <\/p>\n
Tallahassee resident and Iraq War veteran Luke Murphy announced his candidacy last Thursday. In the primary, Murphy will face Florida GOP chairman Evan Power, Nick Lewis, Keith Gross, Austin Rogers, Audie Rowell and Jim Norton.<\/p>\n
The congressional seat is currently held by Republican Neal Dunn, but the Congressman announced that he is withdrawing his re-election bid. <\/p>\n
According to Murphy\u2019s website, he is a decorated veteran and life-long conservative. <\/p>\n
He says he is \u201cdedicated to serving Florida and American with integrity.\u201d <\/p>\n
On his Facebook page, Murphy said President Trump needs soldiers in Congress. \u201cI gave my leg for the United States and, if my nation had asked, I would have given the other one too,\u201d Murphy said.<\/p>\n
Yen Bailey, Amanda Marie Green and Nic Zateslo, all Democrats, have also filed to run for the District 2 seat, according to the state elections database.<\/p>\n
