The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash about 11:30 p.m. Monday night. As of 6 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, northbound lanes remain closed, with heavy fog visible on traffic cameras.<\/p>\n

Fatal crash closes I-95 in Volusia County<\/p>\n
The FHP responded to a crash about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 16. The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 close to mile marker 241 near Edgewater.<\/p>\n
As of 6 a.m. Feb. 17, roadblocks are keeping northbound lanes closed, according to the FHP.<\/p>\n
Crash involves car, tractor-trailer<\/p>\n
According to the FHP, the driver of a 2025 Hyundai Sonata ran into the back of a tractor-trailer while both were in the center northbound lane on I-95.<\/p>\n
Driver of car pronounced dead on scene<\/p>\n
The adult male driving the Sonata was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP.<\/p>\n
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 50-year-old male from Yulee remained at the scene.<\/p>\n
Northbound motorists diverted off I-95<\/p>\n
To avoid delays, avoid northbound I-95 in southern Volusia County.<\/p>\n
Motorists already on the interstate are being diverted off I-95 at Deering Parkway in Mims. Use U.S. 1 as a detour, FHP Lt. Tara Crescenzi, public affairs officer, said via email.<\/p>\n
Where is Edgewater, Florida?<\/p>\n
Edgewater is located in southern Volusia County south of New Smyrna Beach or 15 miles south of Daytona Beach and 25 miles north of Titusville in Brevard County.<\/p>\n
