{"id":158471,"date":"2026-02-17T15:34:06","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T15:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/158471\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T15:34:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T15:34:06","slug":"1-restaurant-100-rodent-droppings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/158471\/","title":{"rendered":"1 restaurant, 100 rodent droppings!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">No one sees 100 rodent droppings in the kitchen, right? <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Well, state inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation did. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Records show several Broward County restaurants were ordered shut last week after inspectors documented serious sanitation issues, including extensive rodent activity at one location where roughly 100 droppings were found in food preparation and storage areas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Other violations included live roaches, flying insects, and conditions that could contaminate food or food-contact surfaces. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">No kitchens in Miami-Dade or the Florida Keys were ordered shut last week. All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and then a re-inspection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MICKEY\u2019S DOWNTOWN BISTRO<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">4331 N. Utility closet with door to kitchen &#8211; approximately 6 rodent droppings on shelf containing toilet paper, paper towels and tools. 2. Rolling cart in kitchen &#8211; approximately 20 rodent droppings on cart with cleaning supplies. 3. Behind rolling cart in kitchen &#8211; approximately 30 droppings along wall. 4. Storage room open to kitchen with freezers and unused equipment- at least 50 rodent droppings. Operator immediately began cleaning\/sanitizing the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cRaw animal food stored over\/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. Cookline flip top &#8211; raw beef stored over ready to eat prepared vegetables. Operator stored all items properly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cRaw animal foods not properly separated from each other in holding unit based upon minimum required cooking temperature. Cookline flip top &#8211; raw chicken stored over raw beef.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cEmployee began working with food, handling clean equipment or utensils, or touching unwrapped single-service items without first washing hands. Cook entered cook line, put on gloves and began working with ready to eat food without first washing hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cCutting board has cut marks and is no longer cleanable. Cookline cutting boards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cClean utensils stored between pieces of equipment. Approximately 6 live roaches seen crawling on pieces of wood to the left side of stove in kitchen. 2. 2 live roaches seen crawling behind preparation table at cook line. 3. 2 live roaches seen on wall behind reach in coolers in kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cDead roaches on premises. 1. 2 dead roaches seen under steam table in kitchen. 2. 1 dead roach inside oven in kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cStop Sale issued on time\/temperature control for safety food due to temperature abuse. Time\/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Observed in kitchen reach in cooler, cooked rice (58F &#8211; Cold Holding); cooked beans (60F &#8211; Cold Holding). Per operator items were not prepared or portioned today . Items were left in cooler over night exceeding 6 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cTime\/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Observed in kitchen reach in cooler, cooked rice (58F &#8211; Cold Holding); cooked beans (60F &#8211; Cold Holding). Per operator items were not prepared or portioned today. Observed in kitchen, standing water behind reach in coolers in kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cFood\/ice received from unapproved source\/no invoice provided to verify source. See Stop Sale. Observed in front reach in beverage cooler, establishment selling bottled juice without warning label \/ minimum labeling. Advised operator to not sell juice to customers until proper receipts of supplier is provided. Operator removed drinks from cooler.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cNo soap provided at handwash sink. Observed 3 live roaches crawling on wall inside walk in freezer. Observed 2 live roaches crawling on floor inside walk in freezer. Walk in freezer located next to walk in cooler. Walk in freezer not in use, during inspection, equipment turned off. No food stored.
