TAMARAC, FLA. (WSVN) – A chaotic crash in Tamarac that involved a Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office vehicle sent three people to the hospital, and witnesses said it was the result of a pursuit gone wrong.<\/p>\n
BSO units responded to the scene of the multi-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and Prospect Road, just outside Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, just after midnight on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Cameras captured several mangled vehicles that have since been towed from the scene.<\/p>\n
Witness Jared Fisher said he was working at a nearby 7-Eleven when he looked out the window and saw a BSO truck in pursuit of a car.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe saw like six cops coming, and they were chasing after one car as well, and they were going through the intersection, and the car that was getting chased went through the intersection \u2014 it passed through easily \u2014 and the cop behind him collided with a car that was making a left-hand turn,\u201d he said. \u201cWe were just, like, in shock. We heard a collision; it was big, it was loud.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fisher said the impact left at least one of the both vehicles overturned.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou weren\u2019t expecting anything like this to happen, but once it happened, it was very shocking; my blood pressure rose,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was so loud, it had a big impact. We could hear it from inside the store.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surveillance video from inside a store shows multiple BSO vehicles racing through the intersection before they slow down and stop.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we stepped outside and heard the collision, we heard several cops came out and ran directly to the car and were screaming, \u2018Are you OK? Are you all right?’\u201d said Fisher. \u201cThat right there just raised the concern levels and made everything so intense.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police scanners captured those tense moments.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got [a victim] bleeding from the eye and the head,\u201d said a first responder. \u201cWe\u2019ve got another vehicle rolled over on its side.\u201d <\/p>\n
Fisher said dozens of deputies responded and shut down the intersection.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was about 30 cops out. I haven\u2019t seen anything like this before,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Paramedics with Tamarac Fire Rescue transported three patients to Broward Health Medical Center as trauma alerts, officials said.<\/p>\n
A third vehicle, and SUV, crashed further down the road, but authorities have not confirmed whether or not it\u2019s the vehicle they were pursuing.<\/p>\n
The intersection remained closed to traffic for hours as they carried out their investigation.<\/p>\n
The circumstances surrounding this pursuit remain unknown. 7News has reached out to BSO for more information about the victims\u2019 conditions and whether the deputy involved was one of them.<\/p>\n
