{"id":158950,"date":"2026-02-17T22:12:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T22:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/158950\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T22:12:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T22:12:07","slug":"gunman-sentenced-to-2-life-sentences-for-shooting-tow-truck-driver-in-port-st-lucie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/158950\/","title":{"rendered":"Gunman sentenced to 2 life sentences for shooting tow truck driver in Port St. Lucie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">A Port St. Lucie man who shot a tow truck driver two years ago was sentenced Tuesday to two life sentences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Omar Sueque, 61, was in a St. Lucie County courtroom to face the sentencing after he was convicted on Dec. 3, 2025, of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, along with a second charge of burglary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sueque\u2019s attorney called the sentencing \u201cdisappointing\u201d and said there would be a \u201cvigorous appeal\u201d to the case. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The shooting occurred in January 2024 at a home on the 2000 block of Southwest Villanova Road in Port St. Lucie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Surveillance video showed Sueque shooting at the tow truck driver, Triston Hastings, 28, of Stuart, who was attempting to repossess a vehicle, prompting the confrontation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hastings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/treasure-coast\/region-st-lucie-county\/port-st-lucie\/repo-driver-called-911-himself-after-getting-shot-6-times\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">survived the shooting<\/a>, calling 911 himself after getting shot six times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 Scripps Media, Inc.
