The islands are invited out for two upcoming events at The Community House (TCH) on Sanibel.<\/p>\n

TCH will present its Mardi Gras Carnevale Community Social on Feb. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. with tickets available, along with its monthly Arts & Crafts Fair on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free entry.<\/p>\n

COMMUNITY SOCIAL<\/p>\n

The Mardi Gras Carnevale Community Social will feature entertainment, food and drinks.<\/p>\n

Executive Director Emily Ankerson noted that it is part of a season series.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hosting these, almost monthly, socials just to have something for people in the community to do that\u2019s purely for fun and not anything fancy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The theme for this event is a mashup of Mardi Gras and Carnevale.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to make it fun and timely,\u201d Ankerson said.<\/p>\n

Attendees can arrive ready for Mardi Gras or Carnevale.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey can dress in a costume that matches or an outfit. It\u2019s completely up to the people attending if they want to get into the spirit,\u201d she said. \u201cPlenty of people come to the events just as they are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Live music will be provided by The Hot Buttered Nuggets.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hot Buttered Nuggets is a really fun group,\u201d Ankerson said. \u201cThey get into themes, as well, so they\u2019ll join our Mardi Gras-Carnevale vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Refreshments will be available.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome sort of hors d\u2019oeuvres or appetizers,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then we\u2019ll have a cash bar.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank is the event sponsor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to Sanibel Captiva Community Bank for their generosity in supporting this event, as well as others,\u201d Ankerson said.<\/p>\n

R.L.R Investments is the season sponsor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d also like to thank R.L.R Investments, who has been supporting us throughout the season,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $5 for members and $20 for non-members.<\/p>\n

The public is encouraged to secure a spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome out and have fun with us,\u201d Ankerson said. \u201cSocialize with community members and visitors in a fun, Mardi Gras-Carnevale themed atmosphere, with good food and good music.\u201d<\/p>\n

ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR<\/p>\n

Taking place inside of TCH, the Arts & Crafts Fair is open to all.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout the season, they\u2019re fun attractions for visitors and people in the community,\u201d she said. \u201cWe try to support local artists and artisans with the shows for them to showcase their wares.\u201d<\/p>\n

There will be about 40 vendors taking part.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a variety,\u201d Ankerson said. \u201cFrom jewelry and ceramic artists, to woodcrafters and pottery.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Shellcrafters will offer shell bouquets and other shell pieces.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have our very talented Sanibel Shellcrafters,\u201d she said. \u201cAll the proceeds from their amazing creations benefit The Community House.\u201d<\/p>\n

The community is welcome to come out.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupport local artists and artisans. Do a little shopping, a little sightseeing,\u201d Ankerson said. \u201cIt\u2019s something fun to do on a Sunday. Visit the farmers market and then stop by the Arts & Crafts Fair.\u201d<\/p>\n
