Continuing its Black History Month program, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra presents the Florida premiere of \u201cHad to Be\u201d by Haitian-American composer\u00a0Nathalie Joachim, performed by cellist\u00a0Seth Parker Woods.<\/p>\n
The evening also includes the orchestra\u2019s premiere of \u201cFour Black American Dances\u201d by\u00a0Carlos Simon, a work highlighting the breadth of Black American cultural expression.<\/p>\n
The program pairs these contemporary works with Mozart\u2019s Symphony No. 35 \u201cHaffner\u201d and Rimsky-Korsakov\u2019s \u201cCapriccio espagnol.\u201d A pre-concert conversation begins 30 minutes before the show.<\/p>\n
