ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A 12-year-old child riding a mini bike was injured in a crash with an SUV on Tuesday afternoon, the St. Johns County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n
SJSO said the child was \u201criding a 99cc gas powered mini dirt bike.\u201d<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n The crash happened on Longleaf Pine Parkway in front of Patriot Oaks Academy, where the child is a student.<\/p>\n SJSO said the child was taken \u201cto a local hospital with serious bodily injuries\u201d and \u201cthe child was wearing a helmet.\u201d<\/p>\n SJCSD said a basketball game scheduled at the school for Tuesday night is canceled.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n The school sent the following message to families:<\/p>\n \u201cChargers,<\/p>\n \u201cWe appreciate everyone\u2019s care, well wishes, and attention to our school community. As many of you are aware, there was an accident in front of the school at the end of the day.<\/p>\n \u201cWe do not have any additional information to share.
