(MDCR) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla.  \u2014 A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after authorities said he brought a gun onto the campus of Miami Northwestern Senior High School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Miami-Dade Schools Police identified the suspect in an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News Wednesday as Johnbilly Forestal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the report, officers were notified that a teacher reported seeing a black gun inside a women\u2019s restroom at the school, located at 1700 NW 17th Ave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The report stated that police attempted to review surveillance video but were unable to because the cameras were \u201cinoperable.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An officer then began searching students\u2019 belongings in a classroom after explaining the search was a safety check \u201cbased on reasonable suspicion that someone might be in possession of a gun.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities said Forestal was later found with a silver Smith &amp; Wesson .357 Magnum revolver that was inside a green and orange Nickelodeon backpack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators said he knowingly entered the school campus with the gun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They said a MDSPD detective responded to the campus, took over the investigation, and impounded the weapon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">After being read his Miranda rights, Forestal spontaneously told detectives that he had the gun for protection and knew he shouldn\u2019t have had it at the school, the report stated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Forestal was then taken into custody on one count of possession of a firearm on school property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Forestal\u2019s arrest report did not state why he was at the school. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As of Wednesday morning, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as \u201cto be set.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 News From Your Neighborhood<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body__copyright\">Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Ryan Mackey\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/https:\/\/author-service-images-sandbox-us-east-1.publishing.aws.arc.pub\/wplginc\/8725e99c-e445-48a0-bd.jpeg\"  width=\"100\" height=\"100\"\/>Ryan Mackey <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-author-bio__author-description\">Ryan Mackey is a Digital Journalist at WPLG.
