JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 A 72-year-old Jacksonville woman has been missing for more than a week, and her family is praying for answers about her whereabouts.<\/p>\n
Margaret Hanley was last seen Monday, Feb. 8, according to her family.<\/p>\n
Her son, Jomo Thompson, says Hanley has been dealing with short-term memory loss. He suspects she might be the victim of a scam after noticing unusual bank account activity, including checks written out to a person for large amounts.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy mom is very frugal, so that\u2019s cause for alarm,\u201d Thompson said.<\/p>\n
The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office said Hanley\u2019s last known location was identified in Georgia.<\/p>\n
Thompson said that is also concerning because his mother usually doesn\u2019t travel farther than the local Walmart. He added he isn\u2019t familiar with anyone she might know in Georgia.<\/p>\n
JSO said a Silver Alert has not been issued for Hanley because she was last identified in Georgia.<\/p>\n
When asked what\u2019s going through his mind now that it\u2019s been over a week since his mother was last heard from, Thompson said, \u201cMy mom\u2019s pretty resourceful and industrious, so I\u2019m not letting my mind wander there. Just hoping and praying that we can get her back. I have a feeling she might be lost somewhere out there without a car, phone or money. That\u2019s what I hope. I don\u2019t want to think of anything more nefarious than that. I\u2019m just trying to keep my thoughts positive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thompson said his mother was driving a 2001 Toyota RAV4 with a license plate of ESMF23.<\/p>\n
JSO said it has reached out for assistance in Georgia and shared information through the National Crime Information Center. They also issued a \u201cBe on the Lookout\u201d alert in Liberty County, where Hanley was last seen.<\/p>\n
