Getty Images for NYCWFF<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been after Brooklyn for three or four years,\u201d he told Side Dish. \u201cBut after he launched his hot sauce, I went back to him and told him, \u2018This is your audience.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beckham, who did not comment, participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/13\/business\/nyc-wine-amp-food-festival-could-boost-struggling-south-street-seaport\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the New York City Wine &amp; Food Festival in October<\/a>, where he was \u201cjust as nice as could be,\u201d said Schrager.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, I was a bit surprised to get him for two festivals in a row,\u201d he added. \u201cBut he\u2019s back, and he\u2019s excited. I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amid a family feud in which Beckham accused his parents David and Victoria Beckham of trying to sabotage his marriage and prioritizing branding over relationships \u2013 allegations the star couple has denied \u2013 the son is scheduled to help oversee <a href=\"https:\/\/sobewff.org\/burger\/?t=gene\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the burger competition<\/a> in which Gayle King, Ashley Graham and more are set to be judges.<\/p>\n<p>Beckham and Ray are set to emcee a burger cookoff on Thursday. The brand launched the day of his wedding to Nicola Peltz \u2014 before the family feud broke out \u2014 and was named in part after his father\u2019s soccer jerseys. <\/p>\n<p>Beckham is set to team up with one of the Big Apple\u2019s favorite French bistros, Keith McNally\u2019s Pastis, which now has a Miami outpost, to create a burger for the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Diplo is also set to perform.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted something big, and we have it,\u201d Schrager said.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said they sold 60,000 tickets this year. SOBEWFF<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s one of many events at the festival, moving this year from Miami Beach to areas including the Design District and Coconut Grove and featuring 500 participating chefs.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first year that the festival will have a non-alcoholic event, called \u201cCoffee Culture: A Miami Brunch Experience\u201d and hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka.<\/p>\n<p>Other festivities range from formal dinners to a casual ping pong-and-pizza event hosted by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the Miami Beach Edition Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are definitely people not drinking or drinking less and drinking differently, and we now have mocktails at every event,\u201d Schrager said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thought he\u2019d cancel, given all the publicity,\u201d Schrager said. Getty Images for NYCWFF<\/p>\n<p>He founded the festival after attending the Food &amp; Wine Classic in Aspen, Colo., one year and loving it so much, he decided to bring a similar festival to the beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember thinking it was the greatest thing in the world, with the beautiful mountains in the background. I thought, how could we do this on the ocean, instead? Gordon Ramsay skipped a $300-a-plate dinner he was scheduled to cook in 2003, Page Six reported at the time. In 2009, Chef Mario Batali made headlines for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcbayarea.com\/news\/weird\/chef-mario-batali-drops-f-bomb-in-front-of-spanish-royality\/1866209\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">dropping the f-bomb<\/a> in front of the king and queen of Spain. Another year, Willie Nelson gave an impromptu beach concert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the start, we had to bring in the talent because we didn\u2019t have enough chefs. Now there\u2019s a plethora of restaurants with the greatest chefs in the world, from Jean-Georges [Vongerichten] to Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller,\u201d Schrager said.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the festival has raised more than $45 million for Florida University\u2019s Chaplin School of Hospitality &amp; Tourism Management and provided opportunities for students to meet and work with participating top chefs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Schrager said the festival has been lucky to \u201cride the coattails\u201d of the Food Network.\u00a0 SOBEWFF<\/p>\n<p>Schrager said the festival has been lucky to \u201cride the coattails\u201d of the Food Network, which launched just five years before his event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey helped introduce us to their followers and talent and we evolved by having the greatest chefs in the world participate over the years,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Schrager adds that whether there\u2019s a billionaires\u2019 boom, like today, or a financial crisis like in 2008, ticket sales for the festival have been steady. Organizers said they sold 60,000 tickets this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven during the COVID years, people were so happy to be doing things outside,\u201d Schrager\u00a0 said. \u201cWe\u2019ve always been profitable, even during the bad years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwenty-five years is a lot for anything \u2014 for a marriage, for kids. I\u2019m excited about the turnout of talent and winemakers. We haven\u2019t lost appeal.
