\n Pool Kids, from Tallahassee, Florida, will perform at the Brighton venue on February 24.\n<\/p>\n
\n The four-piece recently signed to Epitaph following the completion of their latest album, Easier Said Than Done, which they recorded in Seattle over five weeks with producer Mike Vernon Davis.\n<\/p>\n
\n Christine Goodwyne, vocalist and guitarist, said: “We felt a lot of pressure to recreate the magic that happened last time.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We did a lot of searching, playing each song a million different ways and deciding which one sounded the best.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Best known for their 2022 self-titled LP, Pool Kids have been praised for their fusion of pop, emo and math rock, earning critical acclaim.\n<\/p>\n
\n The band is currently composed of Ms Goodwyne, Andy Anaya on guitar, Nicolette Alvarez on bass and Caden Clinton on drums.\n<\/p>\n
\n Their latest album delves into themes of anxiety, relationships and the emotional cost of touring.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Goodwyne said she was diagnosed with OCD shortly before entering the studio and now sees the record through that lens.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “I actually was diagnosed with OCD a week before going to the studio.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I thought I had it, but after getting the official diagnosis, I looked back at a lot of the lyrics, and I thought, ‘this is kind of an OCD record.’\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s hard to explain because it\u2019s such a misunderstood disorder, but a lot of the themes on the record are fixations that my OCD latches onto.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Tracks on the album reference missed milestones, strained relationships and the emotional highs and lows of life on the road.\n<\/p>\n
\n The album was funded by the band through years of consistent touring.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Alvarez said: “We tried out new ideas on the fly, wrote and reworked songs, keys, chord progressions, and runs together. We looked at everything as a collective through an even more powerful microscope than before.”\n<\/p>\n
