JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Jacksonville Transportation Authority has announced several public meetings for input on the Skyway monorail’s future.<\/p>\n
In a release, JTA said it plans to “modernize the system, integrate new technologies, and strengthen mobility in and around Downtown Jacksonville.”<\/p>\n
JTA said project alternatives will be reviewed during the open houses, which are the first set of public meetings for the Skyway Rehabilitation PD&E Study. Additional meetings planned for May will focus on “alternatives analysis and project recommendations,” according to JTA.<\/p>\n
“These meetings are an important opportunity for residents, businesses, and stakeholders to be part of the Skyway’s future,” JTA Senior Vice President and Chief Infrastructure & Development Officer Greer Johnson Gillis said in the release. “Community feedback will play a key role as we evaluate options to enhance connectivity, improve system reliability, and address evolving mobility needs in Downtown Jacksonville.”<\/p>\n
