{"id":161582,"date":"2026-02-19T19:27:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T19:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/161582\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T19:27:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T19:27:11","slug":"backstreet-boy-brian-littrell-dealt-major-blow-in-florida-beach-trespass-suit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/161582\/","title":{"rendered":"Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell dealt major blow in Florida beach trespass suit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He can\u2019t have it that way.<\/p>\n<p>Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell can\u2019t claim a Florida retiree caused him emotional harm when she <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/28\/us-news\/backstreet-boys-singer-brian-littrell-embroiled-in-bitter-legal-battle-over-beach-at-his-florida-home\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">used the beach outside his $3.8 million mansion<\/a>, said a judge who tossed his suit against her on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Littrell, 50, has been embroiled in a long-running spat with Carolyn Barrington Hill, 67, in which he claims <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/11\/us-news\/lawyers-duked-it-out-over-whether-to-toss-backstreet-boys-singer-brian-littrells-trespassing-suit-of-his-florida-beachfront-property\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">she has repeatedly trespassed and invaded his privacy<\/a> by going on the dry sand outside his beachfront property in Santa Rosa in the Florida Panhandle.<\/p>\n<p>Hill says everybody has the right to rock their body on the public beach in front of Littrell\u2019s house, thanks to Sunshine State access laws.<\/p>\n<p>Walton County Circuit Court Judge Jonathan Schlechter dismissed Littrell\u2019s entire lawsuit against Carolyn Hill on Tuesday, saying that Littrell can\u2019t claim emotional damages in a trespassing case. <\/p>\n<p>Brian Littrell received a major legal blow when a judge tossed his lawsuit against a senior citizen for allegedly trespassing on his breach front property. Daniel DeSlover\/ZUMA Press  \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n<p>Schletchter\u2019s ruling was based on a legal technicality, giving Littrell 20 days to refile his complaint against Hill with the legal corrections.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also said Littrell didn\u2019t provide evidence that Hill was on a part of his property where he had \u201ca reasonable expectation of privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hill\u2019s lawyer, Heidi Mehaffey, lauded the judge for seeing \u201cthrough the legal insufficiencies in the complaint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Littrell claimed that Carolyn Barrington Hill repeatedly illegally used the dry sand behind his $3.4 million home. Google Street<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Florida Constitution protects Ms. Hill\u2019s access to the shorelines to enjoy her local beach that she has frequented for decades,\u201d Mehaffey said. \u201cMs. Hill will continue to stand strong in her defense that all have rights to access the beaches of Walton County without fear of litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Littrell\u2019s lawyer, Peter Ticktin, downplayed the ruling as \u201cstandard stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll be filing an amended complaint in pursuant to the order of the court,\u201d Ticktin said. \u201cThis is a normal procedure in the way complaints are processed and refined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hill, 67, described herself as \u201csemi-retired\u201d and \u201con Medicare.\u201d WMBB<\/p>\n<p>The Backstreet Boy singer sued in September. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The crooner <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/17\/entertainment\/backstreet-boys-brian-littrell-sues-florida-police-over-beach-trespassers-at-his-santa-rosa-beach-property\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brought the suit<\/a> in September alongside his wife Leighanne and their company BLB Beach Hut, LLC, under which they bought their 1,574-square-foot, three-bedroom, four-bathroom home in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed under the Sunshine State laws, the public can only use the beach up to the high tide line behind private homes.<\/p>\n<p>But Hill \u2014 a self-described \u201csemi-retired\u201d woman \u201con Medicare\u201d\u2013 refused to leave Littrell\u2019s property and even filmed his family without their permission, Littrell claimed in the suit.<\/p>\n<p>The judge has given Littrell 20 days to refile his lawsuit with legal corrections. rokspics\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Littrell claims Hill\u2019s use of his property is part of a push by local activists to change rules, taking away private beach use. He also claimed he was \u201cforced to hire security\u201d to protect his family from the bothersome beach-goers and he even had to call the local police once to boot Hill last May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy\u00a0clients have been wanting to enjoy the peaceful use of their beach,\u201d Littrell\u2019s lawyer, Brent Day, argued in court in December. \u201cThey have been harassed by numerous organizations \u2026 day in and day out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By Mehaffey at the same hearing fired back that there wasn\u2019t evidence that Hill had crossed over the high water line and said Littrell\u2019s suit was too \u201cvague.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Littrell and his wife filed suit in September claiming they put up no trespassing signs but it didn\u2019t stop Hill from coming onto their property on numerous occasions from April through September. Facebook\/Shoreline Defender<\/p>\n<p>Leighanne was shown in a 2023 video telling a sunbather to leave her property and relocate to the \u201cwater\u2019s edge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cI Want It That Way Singer\u201d stood silently holding up a \u201cNo Trespassing\u201d sign while his wife argued with the man. <\/p>\n<p>The man said at one point he\u2019s \u201cnot f\u2013king moving\u201d and told them to call the cops.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"He can\u2019t have it that way.
