A 41-year-old man accused Feb. 18 of firing at least eight shots toward his father, killing him, did so after an argument about taking the dog out, according to statements in an affidavit released Feb. 19.<\/p>\n
Sheldon Morrison was taken into custody in the Hollywood area hours after Port St. Lucie Police said he fatally shot his 69-year-old father, Glen Morrison,<\/a> in a garage of their home in the 5900 block of Northwest Ketona Circle, which is off West Torino Parkway, east of Interstate 95.<\/p>\n Sheldon Morrison is in the St. Lucie County Jail on a first-degree murder charge.<\/p>\n Investigators were called about 7:47 a.m. Feb. 18 to the scene.<\/p>\n Glen Morrison\u2019s wife, Patricia Morrison, told investigators she heard her husband and son arguing in the garage about taking out the dog.<\/p>\n She went to try and stop the quarreling, and when she got in the garage saw her husband and son.<\/p>\n \u201cShe described Glen as being very agitated and angered,\u201d the affidavit states. \u201cShe described Sheldon as being calm.\u201d<\/p>\n She said her husband was \u201cbanging water containers around.\u201d<\/p>\n He \u201caggressively\u201d walked up and was close to her, but did not touch her, she said. Patricia Morrison did not think her husband would have done so.<\/p>\n Sheldon Morrison went into the house and then came back to the garage.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile looking toward her husband and Sheldon out of her view, she heard a bang,\u201d the affidavit states. \u201cShe turned toward Sheldon and saw him holding a firearm pointed at the direction of Glen.\u201d<\/p>\n She followed Sheldon Morrison back into the house and \u201cmade comments toward Sheldon on why he did that.\u201d<\/p>\n She said Sheldon Morrison responded, \u201cI thought he was going to hit you.\u201d<\/p>\n She said she watched as Sheldon Morrison left in his beige Cadillac.<\/p>\n Police found eight cartridge casings on the ground next to Glen Morrison.<\/p>\n Police reported Sheldon Morrison has no criminal history, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n Investigators learned there is no history of physical violence between Glen Morrison and Patricia Morrison, and there also hasn\u2019t been physical violence between Glen Morrison and Sheldon Morrison.<\/p>\n \u201cShe did not hear any statements from either subject about physical violence not did she see any physical interaction between the two subjects,\u201d an affidavit states.<\/p>\n Patricia Morrison also said she didn\u2019t see anything in her husband\u2019s hands that could be considered a weapon.<\/p>\n She told investigators her son isn\u2019t diagnosed with a mental health issue, and she didn\u2019t think he was under the influence of anything.<\/p>\n Neighbors<\/p>\n Neighbor Donna Tighe, 56, spoke to TCPalm Feb. 18 before police identified the deceased or his son.<\/p>\n She said her husband would go out and speak to a man who lived at the home and worked on cars, and said things were very social.<\/p>\n \u201cThat’s why this is, like, crazy,\u201d Tighe said.<\/p>\n She said she didn\u2019t hear anything.<\/p>\n \u201cThey banged on my door at 8 o’clock this morning asking us if we heard a pop,\u201d Tighe said. \u201cI said I didn’t hear anything, I was sleeping.\u201d<\/p>\n Tighe said she didn\u2019t expect anything like this to happen in the area.<\/p>\n \u201cNot in this neighborhood. It’s so quiet,\u201d Tighe said. \u201cThis is uncalled for, totally.\u201d<\/p>\n Mitchell Oxendine, 78, lives on the opposite side of the street from where the incident occurred. He said he knew Glen Morrison.<\/p>\n \u201cNice guy, quiet. Most people in this neighborhood, they kind of stay to themselves,\u201d Oxendine said. \u201cHe comes out, I see him, I talk to him, he walks his dog.\u201d<\/p>\n Oxendine said he\u2019d seen Sheldon Morrison and spoke with him a few times.<\/p>\n \u201cHe seemed to be all right,\u201d Oxendine said. \u201cIf they were arguing or whatever, it was an inside argument.\u201d<\/p>\n Oxendine said his dog, a Doberman Pinscher named Brandi, came to the door and was barking.<\/p>\n \u201cI came and looked at the door and I didn’t see anything, but she kept growling, looking across the street,\u201d Oxendine said. \u201cAnd I went back and sat down and ate and then the police came.\u201d<\/p>\n Neighbor Christopher Kasloski, 45, said he had few interactions with Sheldon Morrison, but he interacted with his parents a good bit.<\/p>\n Deadly shooting: Man fatally shot at Florida Elks Lodge ID’d; police ask for assistance<\/a><\/p>\n ‘Disagreement at work’: Motive in fatal shooting in Florida appears to stem from work issue<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe sold them that lot when they built their house, so my mom would speak with them all the time when they were building the house about how the progress was going,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Kasloski said the elder Morrison would ask about how he\u2019s doing and about his mother.
