Is South Florida becoming the new Silicon Valley (or would Silicone Valley be more fitting)?\u00a0Body modification<\/a>\u00a0jokes aside, South Florida seems to be attracting\u00a0more billionaires by the day<\/a>, so centi-billionaire Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s<\/a> potential move to the 305 likely won\u2019t shock many.<\/p>\n Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan are eyeing a $200 million listing at 7 Indian Creek Island Rd., according to the Real Deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n New Times initially reported that Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, had bought a home for between $150 and $200 million in Indian Creek\u2019s illustrious Billionaire Bunker, citing a now-updated\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/a> story. The home was reportedly tied to Jersey Mikes Subs founder Peter Cancro and his wife, Tatiana Cancro. But that information turned out to be false.<\/p>\n According to the Journal, the Meta CEO and his wife are in discussions about purchasing the unfinished mansion owned by Dr. Aaron Rollins \u2014 a cosmetic surgeon and founder of AirSculpt<\/a> \u2014 and his wife, Marine Rollins, which was listed for $200 million in November. Danny and Jill Hertzberg<\/a> of Coldwell Banker Realty are the agents representing the nearly 28,000-square-foot home, which boasts 9 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, an Alice in Wonderland-esque pool facing the bay, and, of course, a private dock.<\/p>\n The Hertzbergs had not returned New Times\u2018 requests for comment by phone or email at the time of this publication.<\/p>\n Indian Creek, a man-made barrier island between Surfside and Biscayne Park in the bay, has attracted the likes of\u00a0Amazon founder<\/a>\u00a0Jeff Bezos,\u00a0Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner<\/a>, NFL legend\u00a0Tom Brady<\/a>, and investor\u00a0Carl Icahn<\/a>.<\/p>\n If Zuckerberg makes the move, he will be the latest high-profile Californian to relocate to South Florida, likely pushed across the country in part by his state\u2019s proposal of a\u00a0five percent Billionaire Tax Act<\/a>\u00a0and Florida\u2019s lack of state income tax.<\/p>\n \u201cReal-estate agents in South Florida say they have been working non-stop showing properties to Californians since the possibility of the new tax was announced,\u201d the Journal story reads. Apparently, Miami real estate lawyers also worked at a \u201cbreakneck pace\u201d to close sales on many high-end properties late last year, the story continues.<\/p>\n
