Finalists for the new dean of the College of Sciences were announced on Monday by the provost of the university. Finalist John Colwell’s open forum will be on Feb. 12, Brad Schmidt’s on Feb. 16 and Dr. Christopher Culbertson’s on Feb. 19.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The search for UCF’s next dean of the College of Sciences is nearing its end as finalists for the position were announced on Monday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dr. John Buckwalter,\u00a0provost and executive vice president for academic affairs,\u00a0announced the\u00a0three\u00a0candidates for the position\u00a0via\u00a0email.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI value search processes that are transparent and shaped by a broad range of perspectives across our university,\u201d Buckwalter said.<\/p>\n
Former Dean of the College of Sciences Maggy\u00a0<\/a>Tomova<\/a>\u00a0departed from UCF on June 30, 2025, to join the faculty of\u00a0Augusta University in Georgia as its\u00a0executive vice president of academic affairs and provost, according to UCF Today.<\/p>\n Dr. Joshua Colwell,\u00a0Pegasus professor of physics and associate dean of the College of Sciences at UCF, filled\u00a0Tomova\u2019s\u00a0shoes on July 1, 2025, as the interim dean\u00a0of the college during the search for\u00a0her replacement.\u00a0<\/p>\n Colwell, who has been at UCF since 2006, is one of the final candidates for the permanent position and will speak in the first forum on Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
