\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe search continues to look for 72-year-old Margaret Hanley, a Jacksonville woman her family says has been missing for 13 days.Her family told WJCL 22 that she served 23 years in the Navy and has memory problems. Flock cameras traced her silver Toyota RAV4 to the intersection of Timberlake Road and Oglethorpe Highway at 4:47 p.m. on Feb. 8. Her car was previously pinged in Gainesville and Starke, Florida.Her son, Jomo Thompson, says his mom is independent and routine-oriented. Despite living alone, she checks in with her siblings and children multiple times a day. “So, for her to, you know, have this absence of contact is just very unlike her. And she would she wouldn’t do that,” Thompson said.Thompson said he noticed her absence on Monday, Feb. 8. His brother, Jayce, spent two days in Hinesville, Jesup and Ludowici searching, showing locals Hanley\u2019s photo but finding no leads.”She’s 72 years and retired. So life has kind of slowed down for her. So these unusual transactions, her disappearance, very not like her,” Thompson said. Thompson said the family grew concerned after they noticed multiple $200 withdrawals from Hanley\u2019s bank account and discovered a $12,000 check in their mother\u2019s home made out to a man they did not know. After some digging, they found that the man has a history of petty larceny and fraud. The family believes Hanley may be the target of a scam.”My mom is very frugal. She saves her money, she doesn’t spend it. Basically she pays for her bills, groceries, and then that’s about it. You know, she likes to stay at home,” Thompson said. “We don’t care, the fact that she was being scammed. We don’t care about the money. We just want to get her home.”Jacksonville police released a photo of Hanley\u2019s silver Toyota RAV4 with Florida tag ESMF23. Florida detectives told Thompson the case does not meet Florida\u2019s Silver Alert criteria because Hanley went missing out of state.Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
