{"id":164636,"date":"2026-02-22T11:19:20","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T11:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/164636\/"},"modified":"2026-02-22T11:19:20","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T11:19:20","slug":"fhp-holds-procession-for-trooper-who-died-at-tallahassee-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/164636\/","title":{"rendered":"FHP holds procession for trooper who died at Tallahassee hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Highway Patrol troopers and law enforcement agencies held a procession for Trooper Michael Diego, who died at a Havana training facility earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The patrol <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FloridaHighwayPatrolTrainingAcademy\/#\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shared footage from the procession<\/a> on social media, thanking those who helped bring Diego home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From the first mile to the last, Trooper Michael Diego\u2019s brothers and sisters in law enforcement were by his side,&#8221; the post said.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771759159_490_.jpeg\" alt=\"FHP holds procession for fallen Trooper Michael Diego\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"730\"\/><\/p>\n<p>FHP<\/p>\n<p>        FHP holds procession for fallen Trooper Michael Diego<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wtxl.com\/news\/local-news\/fhp-trooper-dies-after-suffering-medical-emergency-at-havana-training-center\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced Trooper Diego had died on Feb. 18.<\/a> FHP Colonel Gary Howze said Trooper Michael Diego was &#8220;participating in a competitive process for the Patrol\u2019s Criminal Interdiction Unit&#8221; when he had a medical emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Howze says Diego was transported to HCA Florida Gadsden Emergency. We were there as Trooper Diego was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>FHP says he died there with loved ones by his side.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771759160_18_.jpeg\" alt=\"FHP holds procession for fallen Trooper Michael Diego\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"725\"\/><\/p>\n<p>FHP<\/p>\n<p>        FHP holds procession for fallen Trooper Michael Diego<\/p>\n<p>The patrol says Trooper Diego started working with FHP back in 2021 and was assigned to the Fort Pierce and Fort Myers districts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlorida State Trooper Michael Diego exemplifies what it means to be an American and one of Florida\u2019s Finest. He lived his life in service and protection to others,&#8221; Howze said about Diego.<\/p>\n<p>The patrol says he leaves behind a mother, sister, and fianc\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Want to see more local news?
