JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 After more than two decades in comedy, Tom Papa says he\u2019s finally reached a place where the laughs come with less pressure \u2014 and more joy.<\/p>\n
The veteran stand-up comedian, actor and author is bringing his Grateful Bread Tour to Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d say I\u2019m pretty professionally content,\u201d Papa said. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing it for such a long time, and now it\u2019s so much nicer to be doing it while you know what you\u2019re doing. I can actually just kick back and enjoy the shows without all the stress.\u201d<\/p>\n
Papa\u2019s comedy is rooted in everyday life \u2014 the small moments, family dynamics and observations that audiences instantly recognize.<\/p>\n
In addition to stand-up, Papa has built a career spanning film, television, books, radio and podcasts. He\u2019s the host of the weekly podcast Breaking Bread with Tom Papa and a daily Netflix radio show on SiriusXM. He\u2019s also appeared in films including \u201cThe Informant\u201d and \u201cAnalyze That.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, Papa says stand-up remains the foundation of everything he does.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a constant conversation with the public,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re learning together, experiencing things together, and finding joy together.\u201d<\/p>\n
As he heads to Jacksonville, Papa says he\u2019s especially looking forward to warmer weather after a stretch of winter tour stops \u2014 and to giving audiences a night to unplug.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy goal is for people to escape for an hour and a half,\u201d he said. \u201cLaugh until their faces hurt and walk out feeling better than when they walked in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Papa encouraged Jacksonville fans to come out ready for laughs \u2014 and possibly a little creativity.<\/p>\n
