TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Several teams participated in the inaugural Paddles for Purpose pickleball tournament benefiting Elder Care Services in Tallahassee on Saturday. <\/p>\n
CEO Jocelyne Fliger said she hopes the event shows what Elder Care can offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvents like this bring more awareness to what Elder Care provides to others, so we can hopefully support more people in our community,\u201d Fliger said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are known as the Meals on Wheels people, but we do all sorts of things to help older adults stay independently living in their own homes.\u201d <\/p>\n
Some of Elder Care\u2019s other services include providing social interactions for isolated adults, in-home visits, and emergency assistance for senior citizens. <\/p>\n

Elder Care Services Board Member J.R. Saginario said people have various needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe might hear from somebody that they need a heater during the cold weather, and we can bring them a space heater the next day,\u201d Saginario said. <\/p>\n
The pickleball tournament brought in local residents, along with people from Dothan and South Carolina, according to Sagniario. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt brings together Tallahasseans and people in the wider community.\u201d <\/p>\n
The event featured men\u2019s and women\u2019s pickleball competitions with dozens of spectators to support. \u201cThat\u2019s the best part of it is seeing everybody coming together to support elder care, being able to talk more about our mission,\u201d Fliger said. <\/p>\n
WCTV\u2019s Jacob Murphey and Matt Hoffmann also competed in Saturday\u2019s pickleball tournament. <\/p>\n
