Ecker died after a Dodge Charger speeding east on Virginia Avenue struck a Chevrolet Silverado turning onto South 35th Street, ejecting the passenger and prompting an ongoing investigation into what led to the high\u2011speed crash. (WPEC){ }<\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chevrolet.com\/trucks\/silverado\/1500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chevrolet Silverado<\/a> was turning left from Virginia Avenue onto South 35th Street when it was struck by an eastbound <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dodge.com\/charger.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dodge Charger<\/a> traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the Silverado\u2019s passenger, Timothy A. Ecker, to be ejected from the truck. Ecker was rushed to Lawnwood Hospital with severe injuries but later died.<\/p>\n<p>Both drivers were transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where they remain in serious condition, according to the police. <\/p>\n<p>Detectives say the investigation remains active as they work to determine the cause of the crash, including what led up to the high-speed impact.
