A Wimauma man is facing felony criminal charges in connection with a Feb. 15 crash in which a man on an off-road mini-bike was killed, according to court records.<\/p>\n
Abraham Trevino, 33, is facing charges of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter in connection with the crash, which killed Savor Marvin Taylor, 42.<\/p>\n
The crash occurred at 7:39 p.m. as Trevino was driving a 2018 Nissan Murano east on North Street approaching Ninth Street in Hillsborough County. Taylor was driving the mini-bike north on Ninth approaching North, records state.<\/p>\n
Trevino, who investigators say was driving 71 mph in a 30-mph zone, ran a stop sign and hit Taylor. After impact, Taylor and the bike were dragged 345 feet, records state.<\/p>\n
Taylor was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital.<\/p>\n
Investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office noticed that Trevino appeared impaired. He did poorly on sobriety tests and was arrested, records state.<\/p>\n
Tests showed the concentrations of alcohol in his breath were 0.072 and 0.071, which is less than the 0.08 under which Florida law says someone is impaired.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to the defendant\u2019s level of impairment being inconsistent with his displayed impairment,\u201d investigators asked him for a urine sample and, when he refused, obtained a search warrant to take and test a blood sample, records state. The results of that test are being determined.<\/p>\n
Bond was set at $100,150, and Trevino was released from jail on Friday, jail records show.<\/p>\n
