(WCJB) &#8211; A 19-year-old attending the University of Florida was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after officers say she was hit while on a crosswalk on campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gainesville Police Department officers have launched a traffic homicide investigation into the crash that occurred near Buckman Drive and University Avenue around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officers say the student entered the roadway near a marked crosswalk when a box truck headed southbound on Buckman Drive crashed into her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The woman was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized as of this report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcjb.com\/newsletter\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> to subscribe to our newsletter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WCJB.
