\"\"U.S. Rep. Mar\u00eda Elvira Salazar announced Friday that she secured $25.6 million in federal funding for 13 community projects in Florida\u2019s 27th Congressional District as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 (H.R. 7148). The spending package,\u00a0supported by Salazar, was\u00a0signed into law<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0by the President on February 3, 2026. The funding covers a range of priorities across Miami-Dade County, including public safety, flood mitigation, infrastructure improvements, medical research, and environmental protection.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about keeping my promise to South Florida,\u201d\u00a0said Rep. Salazar. \u201cEvery dollar secured in this bill reflects my commitment to fight for our families, our seniors, our small businesses, and our neighborhoods. I will never stop working to ensure that the taxpayers of FL-27 see their hard-earned dollars come back home, improving safety, strengthening infrastructure, protecting our water, and building a stronger future for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s projects include investments in law enforcement equipment, expansion of flood control infrastructure in vulnerable neighborhoods, stormwater system upgrades, roadway resurfacing, and improvements to Port of Miami\u2019s cargo capacity. Additional funding supports cancer research at FIU, construction of a senior activity center in West Miami, septic-to-sewer conversions in South Miami, and coastal resilience initiatives in Key Biscayne.<\/p>\n

Prior Years\u2019 Funding<\/p>\n

The FY26 allocation follows previous federal funding secured for the district:<\/p>\n

FY24<\/a>: $23.05 million for 14 projects
\nFY23<\/a>: $23.86 million for 12 projects
\nFY22<\/a>: $17 million for 8 projects<\/p>\n

Earlier projects funded flood mitigation and water quality improvements in Little Havana, West Miami, Pinecrest, Cutler Bay, South Miami, and Key Biscayne; affordable senior housing in Miami; expansion of healthcare facilities; coral reef restoration; resiliency upgrades at Mount Sinai Medical Center; infrastructure improvements at Port of Miami; and development of Veterans Park in Palmetto Bay.<\/p>\n

Since taking office, Salazar\u2019s office reports that more than $89.5 million has been secured for 47 community projects within Florida\u2019s 27th District.<\/p>\n
