<\/a>Presented by the Orlando Utilities Commission and supported by Opera Orlando, FSYO\u2019s 69th Season Play-a-thon event features all eight of Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras\u2019 ensembles and celebrates the fundraising efforts of the entire organization. The event will also feature food trucks and a silent auction with community-donated prizes, making it a festive and interactive experience for families and supporters of all ages, according to organizers.<\/p>\nPlay-a-thon is a team-based celebration of music, outreach, and youth leadership that brings together FSYO\u2019s entire organization, from student musicians and conductors to board members and administrative staff. Unlike traditional fundraisers, Play-a-thon is team-based with each ensemble and department fundraising collaboratively, building camaraderie while fostering a spirit of friendly competition.<\/p>\n
This event is sponsored in part by the City of Orlando and the Orlando Community Redevelopment Agency. Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras is funded in part by the Orange County Government through the Arts and Cultural Affairs Program.<\/p>\n
Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras<\/a> is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has served Central Florida for over sixty-seven years. In the early 1950s, Rollins College music professor Alphonse Carlo recognized a need for a youth orchestra program in the Orlando area. Today, FSYO serves over three-hundred students and is comprised of eight ensembles: three symphonic orchestras, two string orchestras, a percussion ensemble, and two jazz bands.
