Ponyboy and Pepper {Broward County Animal Care}<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Two deserving animals are waiting for loving homes this week at Broward County Animal Care: Ponyboy, a loyal and affectionate dog in foster care, and Pepper, a gentle lap cat ready for a fresh start.\n<\/p>\n

Ponyboy (A2427048) is a 4-year-old neutered male American Staffordshire terrier mix weighing 78 pounds. His journey began in June 2025 when he and his companion dog, Miley, were reported abandoned along U.S. 27. Miley found a home in November, but Ponyboy is still waiting for his turn.\n<\/p>\n

Naturally reserved, Ponyboy takes a little time to warm up. Once he feels safe and comfortable, however, he becomes a sweet and affectionate companion. Currently in foster care, Ponyboy is house-and crate-trained, knows the command \u201csit,\u201d and has developed a protective bond with his caregiver.<\/p>\n

He is food-motivated, loves treats, and is social with other dogs. While he will play occasionally, Ponyboy prefers relaxing in the sun and keeping to himself. He is fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His registration tag fee is sponsored by Leisa Wade, the Pet Realtor<\/a>, making his adoption fee completely covered.\n<\/p>\n

Pepper (A2286759) is a 2-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair weighing 13 pounds. She first arrived at the shelter as a tiny kitten in April 2023, weighing just over a pound. After being adopted, Pepper was recently surrendered when her owner moved and could no longer keep her.<\/p>\n

Now fully grown, Pepper is described as a loving lap cat who enjoys gentle chin and neck scratches and pets along her back. She has been spayed, received updated vaccinations, and is microchipped and ready to join a new family.\n<\/p>\n

Both pets can be met in person at Broward County Animal Care, located at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. The shelter is open daily for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.\n<\/p>\n

All animals adopted from Broward County Animal Care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters pay only $25 for the Broward County registration tag.\n<\/p>\n
