(WCTV) &#8211; A bill inspired by the tragic death of a Tallahassee five-year-old will now head to the Senate floor for a vote. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Missy\u2019s Law advanced out of the Senate Rules Committee on Tuesday afternoon. The law is named after Missy Mogle, whose mother and stepfather were charged with her death last year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The law is designed to keep sex offenders in custody while they await sentencing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Missy\u2019s stepfather, Daniel Spencer, was convicted of a sex crime and was out on bond awaiting sentencing when Missy died. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Daniel Spencer, the stepdad of 5-year-old Missy Mogle, appears in court.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/C6HNRJWKGZDXTGYEUYOF52ZLRI.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"549\" \/>Daniel Spencer, the stepdad of 5-year-old Missy Mogle, appears in court.(WCTV Sam Thomas)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tuesday\u2019s testimony in support of the law included emotional words from Missy\u2019s grandmother, Pepper Mogle. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAs I am representing my baby on my chest, she is forever five, and she will never be able to regain what could be happiness for her again.
