TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State softball team (12-4) continues its homestand this week as it will host five games as it faces Florida A&M, FGCU and Rutgers. FSU will face FAMU on Wednesday at 5 p.m. on ACCNX. Due to expected inclement weather on Friday, the Noles will now play a doubleheader against FGCU beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday. FSU will play a doubleheader against Rutgers beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. All four FSU games of the Unconquered Invitational can be seen on ACCNX with Shawn Davison (Play by Play) and Michaela Edenfield<\/a> (Color) on the call.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tFSU continues its homestand this week as they are slated for five games against Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast and Rutgers.\u00a0
\n\tWednesday’s game against FAMU is the annual Unite Game sponsored by Champions First. There will be a pregame game ball presentation on the field featuring former FAMU coach Veronica Wiggins, former FSU coach JoAnne Graf, current FAMU coach Brittany Beall and Coach Alameda. Members of Boys Town will also be in attendance and a member will throw out the first pitch and all members will run the bases and have a chance to interact with both teams following the game.
\n\tFSU will play a doubleheader against FGCU on Thursday and Rutgers on Saturday.\u00a0
\n\tFAMU enters Wednesday’s game with an 8-6 record and are coming off a 3-2 showing last weekend at the FIU Tournament in Miami. FAMU defeated Incarnate Word, Eastern Illinois (2x). FAMU was 28-20 last season with a 19-5 record in the SWAC. The Rattlers were one win away from winning the SWAC Championship and making the NCAA Tournament.\u00a0
\n\tFGCU comes into the weekend 5-9 but has played several quality opponents. FGCU has wins over Long Island, Ball State, Hofstra (2x) and Florida Atlantic. FGCU has played P4 opponents in Kansas, Louisville and Wisconsin.
\n\tRutgers is 7-7 with a couple of quality wins over South Alabama and Notre Dame. The Scarlet Knights have played three games against ranked opponents in Tennessee and Mississippi State (2x). <\/p>\n

\n\tFSU holds a combined 140-9 record against its foes this week.\u00a0
\n\tFSU is 120-7 all-time against FAMU and has won 31 consecutive games against the Rattlers dating back to 2006.
\n\tFSU has played FAMU more times than any other program in its history.\u00a0
\n\tThe Noles have also dominated FGCU as they hold a 13-1 record all-time against the Eagles. FSU’s lone loss to the Eagles came in Fort Myers in 2024. FSU defeated FGCU 10-2 twice last year in the Dugout Club Classic.\u00a0
\n\tFSU and Rutgers have not met on the diamond since 2012 where Rutgers recorded its only win against the Seminoles. FSU has won seven out of the eight meetings and is a perfect 5-0 against Rutgers in Tallahassee.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tThere will be some familiar faces back at JoAnne Graf Field this weekend as Devyn Flaherty<\/a> (Class of 2024) and Michaela Edenfield<\/a> (Class of 2025) will have roles in this week’s games.\u00a0
\n\tFlaherty, a four-time All-ACC selection, is in her first season as an assistant coach with Florida Gulf Coast. Flaherty came to Fort Myers with FGCU head coach Lindsay Fico from Mercer. Flaherty helped the Bears to their first Southern Conference Championship and its first NCAA Tournament appearance.\u00a0
\n\tEdenfield will return to The Plex in the booth as the 2025 graduate will make her debut on ACCNX for all four FSU games of the Unconquered Invitational. Edenfield was a 2024 NFCA Third-Team All-American and a four-time All-ACC selection and finished in the top five in school history for career slugging percentage, career home runs, career walks and career RBI.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tFSU went 3-2 last weekend with wins over Dartmouth (2x) and Elon but fell twice to No. 9 Alabama.\u00a0
\n\tOffensively, FSU was led by freshman Makenna Sturgis<\/a> who batted .600 with one home and four RBI on the weekend. Sturgis had a stretch against Alabama (2x), Dartmouth and Elon where she went 6-for-6 with three RBI and a home run. Sturgies was 4-for-5 in the two games against Alabama.\u00a0
\n\tAnna Hinde<\/a> and Ashtyn Danley<\/a> also put together solid weekends as both players hit over .400 and \u00a0combined for seven RBI.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tComing off another NCAA Super Regional appearance, the Noles have plenty of reasons for optimism as they begin the 2026 season.\u00a0
\n\tFSU returns two NFCA All-Americans in Isa Torres<\/a> (First Team) and Kennedy Harp<\/a> (Second Team). Torres and Harp have the second-highest combined batting average of returning players in college softball. Torres (.436) and Harp (.412) hit a combined .424 last season. The only duo to have a higher batting average was Jordy Frahm (.462) and Ava Kuszak (.412) at Nebraska
\n\tIn the circle, the Noles return the top pitching duo in the ACC in Jazzy Francik<\/a> and Ashtyn Danley<\/a>. Francik (1.51) and Danley (1.60) had the two-lowest ERAs in the ACC and have the lowest combined ERA of any returning duo in college softball.\u00a0
\n\tFSU is one of two programs in the Power Four to not have a transfer on its roster. Virginia is the only other P4 team to not have a transfer on its roster.\u00a0
\n\tFSU brings in nine true freshmen, and the class was ranked the No. 3 overall class by On3. Bella Ruggiero<\/a> is also a redshirt freshman who was the No. 13 overall player by On3.

\n\tFSU has only been known for its success in the circle, but the offense has been one of the nation’s best the past couple of seasons.\u00a0
\n\tIn 2025, FSU finished in the top 10 in the country in batting average, hits, RBI, runs per game and triples.\u00a0
\n\tFSU scored the fourth-most runs in school history last season and had the fourth-most hits in school history. The Noles also hit the third-most home runs in school history last season.\u00a0
\n\tThe Noles return its top two hitters in Isa Torres<\/a> and Kennedy Harp<\/a> and return three players (Torres, Harp, Beachum) who had 45 or more RBI last season.\u00a0
\n\tSo far this season, FSU is hitting .331 as a team and is averaging 6.44 runs per game.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tFSU has been one of the nation’s best teams at hitting doubles the past five seasons and this year seems to be no different.\u00a0
\n\tFSU has ranked in the top 25 in doubles every year for the past five seasons and has ranked in the top 10 in doubles in three of those seasons. FSU led the nation in doubles in 2023.\u00a0
\n\tThis year, FSU leads the ACC and is sixth in the country with 35 doubles. Marin Heller<\/a> has led the way with seven doubles which leads the ACC, and Isa Torres<\/a> and Makenna Sturgis<\/a> have each hit four doubles which is tied for fifth in the ACC. <\/p>\n

\n\tOne of FSU’s most improved areas this season has been in the field.\u00a0
\n\tSo far this season, FSU holds a .981 fielding percentage which ranks 21st in the country and 2nd in the ACC.
\n\tFSU has committed just eight errors in 404 chances.\u00a0
\n\tLast season, FSU had a .963 fielding percentage that ranked 131st in the country and 10th in the ACC.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tOnce again, FSU and head coach Lonni Alameda<\/a> are expecting big things in the circle once again.\u00a0
\n\tThe Noles have been settling in the circle. FSU has posted four shutouts this season.\u00a0
\n\tFSU has given up 47 runs this season with 32 of those runs coming against top 10 opponents. FSU has allowed just 15 runs in 11 games against unranked opponents with five shutouts.\u00a0
\n\tThe Noles have been led by Jazzy Francik<\/a> who has posted a 6-1 record to go along with a 1.60 ERA in 35 innings. Bella Dimitrijevic<\/a> has also been solid with a 2.70 ERA in 23.1 innings in her freshman campaign.\u00a0
\n\tFSU’s starting rotation has been solid as FSU’s starting pitchers have thrown 54.1 innings, allowed 22 earned runs on 38 hits while striking out 49 batters compared to just 22 walks.
\n\tThe Noles bring back the top pitching duo in the ACC and the country in Jazzy Francik<\/a> and Ashtyn Danley<\/a>.\u00a0
\n\tLast season, FSU held a 2.20 team ERA which was first in the ACC and sixth in the entire country.\u00a0
\n\tFSU allowed just 92 walks last season which was the fifth least in the country.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik and Danley have the lowest combined ERA of any returning duo that pitched at least 90 innings in 2025. Francik held a 1.51 ERA and Danley held a 1.60 ERA which were the two lowest ERAs in the ACC.\u00a0

\n\tLonni Alameda<\/a> expected big things out of the freshmen class this season, and they have delivered so far.\u00a0
\n\tThrough 16 games, Marin Heller<\/a>, Makenna Sturgis<\/a>, Anna Hinde<\/a> and Hayley Griggs<\/a> have combined to hit .319 with five home runs and 32 RBI.\u00a0
\n\tIn the win over FAU, 9 out of FSU’s 13 hits came from true freshmen and 7 out of FSU’s 9 RBI came from true freshmen.\u00a0
\n\tIn the circle, Marlee Gaskell<\/a> and Bella Dimitrijevic<\/a> are continuing to improve day in and day out.\u00a0
\n\tDimitrijevic holds a 2.70 ERA in 23.1 innings while Gaskell has a 4.91 ERA in 15.2 innings. 10 out of Gaskells’ 11 earned runs came against No. 1 Tennessee and No. 9 Alabama over the course of two innings. Gaskell has allowed just one earned run in the other 13.2 innings she’s pitched.\u00a0
\n\tCoach Alameda started four freshmen on opening day for the first time in her time at Florida State. FSU and NC State are the only P4 programs to start four true freshmen on opening day.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tIsa Torres<\/a> has become one of the most recognizable names in college softball and has proven to be the top shortstop in all of softball.\u00a0
\n\tTorres was ranked the top shortstop by both D1Softball and Softball America in the preseason.\u00a0
\n\tSo far this season, Torres has picked up right where she left off with a .500 average with 22 hits, two home runs and 11 RBI in the leadoff spot.\u00a0
\n\tTorres has recorded a hit in 11 out of the 13 games this season and is fourth in the ACC with 22 hits.
\n\tAgainst Dartmouth, Torres hit an inside-the-park home run to end the game in six innings. Torres was the first Seminole to hit an inside-the-park home run since Carsyn Gordon on May 19, 2018.\u00a0
\n\tTorres had a record season in 2025 as she broke the FSU record with a .436 batting average.\u00a0
\n\tMaybe the most impressive stat in Torres’ 2025 season was that she struck out just five times in 218 at bats. Torres has not struck out this season in 21 at bats.\u00a0
\n\tTorres tallied 95 hits in 2025 which was the third most in FSU history.
\n\tTorres was a Top 10 Finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award and was a unanimous Preseason All-American.\u00a0
\n\tDefensively, Torres made countless jaw-dropping plays last season and committed just nine errors in 188 chances.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tNot many can say they had a better start to the season in the circle than Jazzy Francik<\/a>.\u00a0
\n\tSo far this season, Francik has a 6-1record and 1.60 ERA.
\n\tFrancik has allowed just eight earned runs and has 33 strikeouts compared to just 13 walks. Opponents are hitting just .161 against Francik.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik has also allowed just five extra base hits all season.
\n\tFrancik has won back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards to start the season. Francik is the first FSU pitcher to win back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards since Meghan King in 2019.\u00a0
\n\tOn opening week, Francik picked up three wins, did not allow a run in 17 innings and threw a no-hitter on opening night against Samford.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik’s no-hitter against Samford was the second no-hitter on opening day in FSU history. Francik joined Julie Larsen who threw a no-hitter against West Florida on opening day in 1986.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik’s 17 consecutive scoreless innings was the longest streak to start a season since Meghan King in 2019. King threw 18 scoreless innings to start the season.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik finished 2025 with a 1.51 ERA which was the lowest ERA in the ACC and the lowest ERA of any freshman in the country.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik finished with a 10-3 record and pitched 92.2 innings.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik recorded eight saves which was a freshman record at FSU and the second-most in school history.
\n\tFrancik struck out 87 batters and surrendered just 19 walks and held opponents to just a .191 batting average.\u00a0
\n\tFrancik allowed just 14 extra base hits in 2025.\u00a0
\n\tOn May 3, 2025, Francik threw the first ever no-hitter against a ranked opponent against Virginia Tech. It was also the first no-hitter by a FSU true freshman since Lacey Waldrop in 2012. \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/p>\n

\nBeachum Looks to Continue to be One of Nation’s Most Dangerous Bats<\/p>\n


\n\tJaysoni Beachum<\/a> has become one of the nation’s most dangerous bats in all of the country and looks to be back to her normal self in 2026.
\n\tSo far in 2026, Beachum is hitting .390 with a team-leading three home runs and 13 RBI.\u00a0
\n\tBeachum has also been walked 14 times this season giving her a .610 on base percentage. Beachum has drawn 0.88 walks per game which is second in the ACC.\u00a0
\n\tIn three seasons, Beachum holds a .364 batting average with 30 home runs and 126 RBI. Beachum needs just two home runs to crack the top 10 list for career home runs by a FSU player.\u00a0
\n\tAfter winning the NFCA Freshman of the Year award in 2024, Beachum’s numbers took a dip, but she was still very effective as she hit 11 home runs and 45 RBI.\u00a0
\n\tIn her freshman season, Beachum hit .417 which is the fourth-best mark in FSU history.\u00a0
\n\tAlso in her freshman campaign, Beachum broke the freshman record with 66 RBI and the second-most home runs by a freshman with 16.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\nKennedy Harp<\/a> Looking for Another Big Season Following Injury\u00a0<\/p>\n


\n\tKennedy Harp<\/a> came onto the scene in a big way in 2025, but her season was cut short due to a season-ending knee injury on April 27 but returned to action this past weekend.\u00a0
\n\tIn 49 games, Harp hit .412 with nine home runs and 49 RBI with a .765 slugging percentage.\u00a0
\n\tHarp added 10 triples which was the third-most in FSU history and the most in the country.\u00a0
\n\tHarp broke the school record for most consecutive games with an RBI as Harp recorded a RBI in her first 10 games to start the 2025 season.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tThe past two seasons, Ashtyn Danley<\/a> has taken the reins as a leader in the circle for the Seminoles and has not disappointed.\u00a0
\n\tIn three seasons with the Garnet and Gold, Danley holds a 34-8 record and a 2.62 ERA in 261.2 innings.\u00a0
\n\tSo far this season, Danley is 2-1 with six appearances in the circle. Danley made a huge jump between her freshman and sophomore seasons in the circle as she posted a 1.60 ERA last season after a 3.20 ERA in her freshman season.\u00a0
\n\tDanley’s 1.60 ERA last season ranked 11th in the country and was second behind Francik in the ACC.
\n\tIn her last seven appearances of 2025, Danley allowed just one earned run over the course of 20.1 innings.\u00a0
\n\tDanley also saw more time in the batter’s box last season was great for FSU as she hit .386 in 70 at bats with two home runs and 14 RBI.\u00a0
\n\tSo far this season, Danley is hitting .373 with one home run and eight RBI.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tAnna Hinde<\/a> has had no troubles adapting to the college game so far in her young career.\u00a0
\n\tHinde is hitting .385 and has reached base in 15 out of the 16 games this season and has recorded a hit in 13 out of the 16 games.
\n\tHinde went on an 8-game hitting streak from Feb. 12-21 which included games against No. 1 Texas Tech, No. 7 UCLA, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 9 Alabama.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tMakenna Sturgis<\/a> has been another breakout freshman for the Seminoles and is coming off the best weekend of her young career.\u00a0
\n\tSturgis is hitting .372 this season and is tied with Jaysoni Beachum<\/a> and Shelby McKenzie<\/a> with a team-high three home runs.\u00a0
\n\tLast weekend, Sturgis hit .600 with one home run and four RBI.\u00a0
\n\tSturgis had a stretch against Alabama (2x), Dartmouth and Elon where she went 6-for-6 with three RBI and a home run. Sturgis was 4-for-5 in the two games against Alabama.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter coming onto the scene as a freshman, Makenna Reid<\/a> has battled injuries the past two seasons but is back and healthy and continuing to improve as the season goes on.\u00a0
\n\tIn Reid’s last four innings, she has allowed just one run on one hit and has struck eight batters and walked non.\u00a0
\n\tLast season, Reid held a 1.81 ERA in 27 innings with a 3-2 record.
\n\tIn her final eight appearances of 2025, Reid allowed just two earned runs in 19.1 innings.
\n\tIn her career, Reid holds a 2.31 ERA in 206.1 innings with an astounding 29-3 record and seven saves <\/p>\n
