(WCTV) &#8211; The Tallahassee Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that it is investigating threats to the Islamic Center of Tallahassee, a mosque in Florida\u2019s capital city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to Mahmoud Abdelhadi, the president of the ICT, someone taped a small American flag, the kind used to mark a gravestone, to the side of the mosque. The person or persons wrote \u201cNot Welcome Go Home &amp; Preach &amp; Take that Stupid Quran with You.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Abdelhadi also said he\u2019s been getting threatening text messages, including one he shared with WCTV. In one text, the sender said \u201cI will text you later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They added \u201cwas texting to let you know your time (is) up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"The Tallahassee Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that it is investigating threats to the...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ZRA4EBUATNCKPMAXGX76R3B5VY.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>The Tallahassee Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that it is investigating threats to the Islamic Center of Tallahassee, a mosque in Florida\u2019s capital city.(Photo: Islamic Center of Tallahassee, Graphic: WCTV)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In a statement, TPD said it takes threats to places of religious worship seriously.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe Tallahassee Police Department is continuing to investigate messages reported on January 26, 2026, that raised concerns for a local Islamic center,\u201d said Jerome Maples, a TPD spokesperson. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cOut of an abundance of caution, officers increased patrol presence in the area to provide reassurance and ensure continued safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">More on crime in our area:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A review of court records indicates no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cTPD takes all threats seriously, particularly those involving places of worship. We remain committed to protecting every member of our community and maintaining open communication with community leaders,\u201d Maples said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He added no further threats had been received since January 2026.
