FBI agents on Wednesday searched a residence in the upscale community of Southwest Ranches in Broward County in coordination with FBI searches of the Southern California home and office of Alberto Carvalho, the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District.<\/p>\n
Carvalho was the longtime superintendent of Miami-Dade Public Schools before taking the top L.A. post in 2022.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe searched a residence in Southwest Ranches today as part of this matter and have since cleared the scene,\u201d Jim Marshall, a spokesman for the FBI-Miami Field Office, told the Miami Herald.<\/p>\n
He declined to provide more details.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Broward home raided by FBI as part of case linked to L.A. schools chief Carvalho<\/a><\/p>\n Marshall said, however, that FBI agents did not carry out searches of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools headquarters building at 1450 NE Second Ave. or at residential properties listed in Miami-Dade property records as belonging to Carvalho and his wife at 900 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami and at 420 NE 95th St., a home in Miami Shores.<\/p>\n Carvalho could not be immediately reached for comment.<\/p>\n FBI agents served a search warrant on Carvalho\u2019s Los Angeles office and home Wednesday morning but declined to say why he is under investigation, the agency confirmed to the Miami Herald. The warrants are sealed.<\/p>\n
